THE BUTTERFLY

In early spring,
bright wings
A sea of flying color
In a garden of flowers
Red, blue, crimson, ochre
Carefree and chipper
Gliding and cavorting
Through plants flowering
Exploring and seeking,
nectar mouth watering
Sipping the delicious elixir
And drifting in the arbor
In the shady lair
A moment of calm leisure
Back into action bouncing
Buoyant but discerning
An elegant aviator moving
Lightly and caressing
Life with vitality and vigor
A gesture ardent and tender
Flitting in a meander
Messages of beauty and color
Quietly sitting quickly flying
Dainty harbingers of peace and loving
